How does a wind turbine is converted into wind without guidance mechanism?
razor may be thinking of a machine Darrieus which has a vertical axis of rotation. However, a wind turbine has a rotor normal type fan whose leaves are on the leeward side of the mast support (ref.). If built without a gondola area over the windward side, it only naturally, yaws in the right direction because the wind driving the rotor is downwind. Another advantage is that the rotor can be more flexible due to collision with the mast is not normally possible. However, as the ref. points out, there are drawbacks to this design, including cyclic loading sheet because of the wind shadow support.
