What is the best source of low-cost light-weight, small wind turbines to generate electricity?
I want to explore the feasibility of using of wind energy in my particular urban environment where there is both reliable moderate to high wind speeds and a great need for electricity. The question general need to answer is whether a local low-cost solution can generate electricity economically enough to compete on cost with the electricity generated in parks farms located at a distance. If so, the local solution could help somewhere to solve the problem of finding alternatives to fossil fuels. Even a 1% solution would be an important contribution, given the enormous problem of global warming.
There are many companies that manufacture the turbines small. Integration with power utility, which only allowed in some areas and with some companies. Expenses, may pay a few thousand dollars, when including electronics to integrate production with the power grid. Wind, most places do not have enough constant wind to justify the use of a wind turbine.
