Why oppose action on climate change on an economic basis?
Many people, especially the defenders of free markets, often preclude a federal action against climate change, saying it would lead to an economic slowdown and job losses. I think ridiculous, as the clean energy technologies that introduce many more jobs would be lost by the oil and coal. I was talking about this with my dad (an ardent conservative Republican) and noted that with any new technology, all new professions associated with it are introduced. For example, if energy wind becomes an important energy source for the U.S., which not only requires people to make the turbines. We will need people to install, repair, maintain, develop, sell and market turbines. Despite the purity of the environment, with the oil industry for disgraced less American money goes into the pockets of in medieval oil companies. And even if an economic slowdown as a result, it is best not to lose money in the long run than going extinct?
Your father is right, if the new industry is driven by the market. Look at the dot.com industry and all things Internet that there not long ago. But change does not work as Gov't issued the market exchange. Not only can you order new clean energy technologies that are also economically viable. Remember the old to the future movies, and had something called Mr. Fusion, which was a portable power plant that operated with the trash? Well, if were as easy as say, let's take energy companies to develop such Gov't and then we will not have problems with wind turbines. right ridiculous? So it's fair to think that we new demand for alternative energy economically viable and delivered. If wind power is economically viable, that would already be doing this without government intervention, because it only makes sense. Not even me on Climate Change. Defenders Big Gov't have clung to as the Holy Grail. You do not mind that the world stopped warming in 1998? We've only been throwing more and more CO2 into the atmosphere each year. Must be getting worse, but it is not. You do not mind that all climate models ignore that huge fireball in the sky we call the sun? The sun has cycles too you know? There is a constant, and energy products up and down. Does not it bother you that the Earth's climate has changed back and forth long before the invention of the power plants coal and internal combustion engine?
