The reliability of wind turbines?
I live between two wind farms, one of 300 turbines of the 100 or so. On any given day many, an assumption of 5% -10% are not turning. The blades are pitched in a way that is not too much wind to turn them. I'm assuming that some type of a mechanical problem. What is the reliability of wind turbines. Are they a maintenance headache?
First, it requires about 7.8 mph sustained winds for them to generate them all. They have had many problems with the transmission unit bearings for years. Require a good maintenance program through advanced predictive vibration and sound control to detect failures before they are catastrophic.

Structural reliability of offshore wind turbines. $69.00 Statistical extrapolation is required to predict extreme loads, associated with a target return period, for offshore wind turbines. In statistical extrapolation, “short-term” distributions of the load random variable(s) conditional on the environment are integrated with the joint probability distribution of environmental random variables (from wind, waves, current etc.) to obtain the so-called ”l… |
