I'm doing a turbine Wind that lights a LED light for a science project. The instructions call for 28 gauge enameled magnet wire, but can not find any garment 28, only 26 and 30. I have no time to order any but we found the 26 and 30 gauge at Radio Shack. 30 will be fine. Be able to handle up to about 1 / 2 amplifier before going into heat, and a little LED will come to only one tenth to one hundredth that. In fact, I would like to take advantage of small wire and add more turns, or about 10% which will give you a little more power out of the same breeze. Good choice of projects, good luck to you. Gary
