Make screen savers still work if the monitor is off?

I have a request from the World Community Grid screen, which I may make cancer research data, the crisis when my computer is idle and then send it back to them, but I wonder if the configuration my monitor turns off after 30 minutes of downtime actually makes the screen saver to stop running?

Yes it still works. The monitor and computer are two separate hardware device. The monitor is based on the operation of the equipment (basically, that shows what is on the desktop). The team is not dependent on the monitor.
