Employment in Wales for a Canadian?
I've been trying to move to Europe for years, and a country that looks promising is that of Wales. I know that an employer must demonstrate that you can not find a member of the EU to do the job so they hire in areas where there is a shortage of workers. What areas should be looking at my skill set? I have over 10 years in construction, including stone, carpentry, gardening, and modern technology such as solar and wind. I am a trained arborist to 4 years in the field. I have 12 + years of driving a real machine heavy as loaders, excavators, forklifts and trucks and moving vans particularly in areas close. 6 + years in the childcare gymnastics teaching and certification. It is not necessary to be rich just need to live off. An employer who has trouble keeping workers would very well. I am also the possibility of being an au pair for me to learn to speak Welsh better and make some connections.
I'm not really sure … in generally tends to be the IT, finance and medicine that are successful with sponsorship, but I'm in London, so maybe it's just that arborists do not come here.
Also, I'm not sure why you think Wales looks promising, as my understanding is that many parts of Wales have high unemployment. First of all look for highly skilled migration program and see if you qualify. Award points based on their education and so on, and you should be able to get an idea of whether there really score without submitting an application. Otherwise, I think that being an au pair might be your only way, but I know you can only get a visa for that year.
