Solar energy converter?
How much light intensity in Lux for being able to generate energy (electricity)? That energy, the amount of electricity can be generated?
Solar panels can produce electricity (albeit only slightly), even in very low light levels. In fact, I've heard of people who have said they get a voltage reading through their solar electricity at home under the bright moon. That said, the amount energy that is generated in low lux which is of course low. Manufacturers of solar modules assume their 1000 rate watts per square meter of sunlight. This amount is about the sun produces energy on a clear day, pointing directly at a solar panel. In terms of lux, this is just a simple conversion: 1 lux is equal to 0.001496 watt / 668,449 square meter or lux = 1000 watts / square meter solar technologies range 8-17% efficiency. So that means that say a solar panel that is 15% efficiency (in converting sunlight to electricity) and say that is 1 meter square in size, then produce 150 watts (1000 watts / square meter x 0.15 x 1 meter efficiency) or 100,267 lux. Of course, if the sun does not shine directly on the solar panel, then it will produce less energy – with the ends at dusk and the usually dawn. Solar panels can actually produce more energy than they are normally rated for full direct sunlight. This effect can occur when no reflection of sunlight in the surrounding water (eg a lake or a pond) or snow. The reason for this is, of course, more light, more light is falling on the surface of the solar panels.
