Solar Power / Evergy question?
How does this technology (Solar Power / Energy) work? As in detail. Thanks (:
The Sun sends energy in photons. Think of them as little bundles of solar energy. The solar panels are made of atoms and atoms contain electrons. However, these electrons are trapped atoms to which they belong. When a photon hits one of these electrons, the electron now has the power you need to detach and break from the atom. The photon ceases to exist at that point. As a result of this activity, the solar panel in sunlight has lots of free electrons move randomly. To achieve that it will not be random, a solar panel is composed of two layers. A layer is facing the sun and the other layer are in front of the sun. Once an electron moving at random from crosses into the Sun layer on layer otherwise can not go back. Think of it as a way valve. In electrical terms, is a diode. The end result is that the random motion of electrons in the layer facing the sun has become a movement from the sun to the layer to another layer. Then we connect the two ends of a wire with a solar panel. One end is connected to the layer towards the Sun and the other is connected the other layer. So now the electrons that have crossed by the sun facing the layer to another layer now have a place to escape, the wire. Electrons entering the cable the other layer and follow the thread back to the sun side of the layer. This movement of electrons in a wire is called electricity. Since it is a movement form, is called direct current (DC) If you break the cable and insert a DC device, like a DC fan, fan using electricity to operate.
