The options for alternative fuels for vehicles of the future?
It appears that the vaunted of hydrogen fuel cells will not be El Salvador than previously thought. It expensive to produce hydrogen, and requires the burning of coal, which creates pollution (in the factory, not in the car), plus they can not store enough energy to make the car go over 50 mph. So what's left? Electric cars have The same problem of storage batteries are not enough to power a car for long periods of time. Solar energy does not seem possible (if it's cloudy or rain?) and anti-matter is so expensive to produce than it is nothing more than wishful thinking. So what we will use to power our cars in the future? Levitation magnetic? Nuclear fusion? Some of technology in the drawing boards have not seen it yet?
Do not cancel the electric car yet – you can not cite 20 to 30 years of age defects in electric cars – the progress has been considerable with battery research in recent years. * Check out this electric car: * * The Phoenix http://phoenixmotorcars.com/models/fleet.html travels up to 250 miles per charge, units in 95 + mph carrying 5 passengers and freight charges batteries in just ten minutes, and has a range of more than 200,000 miles. This is a real car, based on research of the battery MIT. Phoenix has taken its first orders and is building cars right now. * Similarly, the Tesla electric sports car: * * This http://teslamotors.com/index.php?js_enabled=1 VE can do 130 + mph, and has been shown beating a Ferrari on a race head to head. The Tesla can also improve 250 miles per charge. Tesla has recently come to Detroit to build an engineering facility. His plan is to design and build an affordable electric family sedan in a couple of years. * Electric vehicles not cause pollution to a large extent, regardless of what power plants burn. * First, about half of the electricity created from the burning of coal, so this is major pollution concern. Only 3% comes from oil, so they do not have to worry about this. But coal plants are the base load plant. They are slow to start, to run all the time. As the network load, and the new facility was launched, most hand, it is cleaner plants. So adding the load to the network does not increase much pollution. * Secondly, electricity is lost much time in the afternoon and night, because the base load plants, which can not be shut down when demand declines. Electric cars charging especially at night. Currently, electricity enough to charge lost millions of electric cars, before more plants will be built. No pollution will create new means the use of electricity that would otherwise go to waste. * Thirdly, what happens when electric cars in the catches, and new facilities to be built? Hopefully these plants are clean. But even if coal plants, new designs from coal generates 85% efficient, much more efficient than its sub-25% efficient gasoline engine. Higher efficiency means more miles with less fuel and therefore less pollution per mile. * Fourth: even if all this were not true, even electric cars produce less pollution than gas cars, due to increased engine efficiency electric (electric motor, 95% efficiency, gas engines, 25% efficiency.) Delivery of cable to power electric cars (95% efficiency) is also much, much more efficient than trucking gas to thousands of service stations. * The proof of this is the right fuel prices. Costs gasoline from 10 to 15 cents per mile. Electric cars drive around for only about a penny per mile. The difference comes from efficiency. Much more effective = much less pollution. —————–
