Solar energy is really an option for most homeowners?
I see a lot of Solar advocates here and in the media. I looked at him and it was impossible for me because of cost. I looked at a simple 3 kW, 16 panel system that is linked to my electric company network for everything they produce only reduced my bill. The installation cost is about $ 20,000. I did some research on the life of equipment, hours of light solar, etc., and figure that you can only get up reliably. about 20 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per day for 70-80 percent of the time, or about 5000-6000 KWH a year. I figured after 10 years of equipment life. I pay about 10 cents / kWh in my power, so the system may save me $ 600/year. This is ridiculous. The system cost me $ 3000/year (2000 and 1000 the depreciation of 5% interest). The system will never pay itself off. Even if you reduce the cost by half, it will approach to reasonable energy costs. How Can anyone promoting this as a viable alternative? Maybe it will when the costs of network power of quadruple or more.
For ordinary people like you, your waist of money. The price is way to high. For guys like me solar cell is sent from heaven. I will build my dead cell panels and construction debris from small windmills have i trash a few photos on my blog. For the average man is ridiculous afford it. Your better off holding off until they leave with a better solution for energy.
