Domestic solar power – Is the cost worth it?

I've been considering installing solar power at my house for a while now … and especially with gas and electricity price increases that we have hand and will have in mind ….. I decided to change my system to a combi boiler because for me not really cost effective to heat a water tank that I'm not going to use every day … and I've been asking for contributions for photovoltaic electricity …. In principle it would seem be a good idea to support me, "energy use by providing mine …. but the costs are so expensive …. particularly for photovoltaic (best appointment that I had is £ 13,500 with VAT, the former Government of the grant of £ 2,500) – I wonder whether an investment is really worth now – or would it be better to leave for another couple of years at prices lower case ?…. installation

I can not speak to your situation, because you live in the UK. However, I can tell here in the U.S. not worth it yet. I build custom homes and has installed solar power on several occasions. This is what I know for sure … The cost is of about $ 30,000 and will be here 15 years crecoup investment. By then the system will be out of date and need replacement (because the technology be gone by then). Now is a good feeling, then a practical solution. Look into a tankless water heater to save on your gas bill. Isolate, isolation, isolation. Make sure your Winodws are efficiant as possible, and ENERGY STAR appliances.
