Someone can tell me information on solar energy?
IM in school and cannot find anything ^ _ ^ im looking for good things and bad things about it and Interesting Facts (3)
I live completely off of solar panels (correctly called photovoltaic or PV panels, for short), so I think I am able to answer. The good things are 1) that generate electricity without polluting the earth, 2) have no moving parts to break 3) that should last a while very long (25 + years), many of the photovoltaic panels have been in operation for over 30 years The bad things are: 1) who do not work at night or on days very cloudy, so the amount of time that generating electricity is limited. So we need to store energy during the day for use at night or on days cloudy. This usually means you have to use batteries to store that energy. The battery technology is not as advanced as the photovoltaic panels yet. 2) It is not profitable yet not just rely on solar panels and batteries. It is common to find a system designed with a backup generator (diesel or gas propane). Another option is to use a wind turbine, because in days of rain and clouds, it is often windy. 3) Advances in the efficiency of photovoltaic panels has not been advanced very quickly. Commonly available solar panels are only 14% -20% effective. A doubling of the efficiency to make a big difference is its accessibility. The solar cell of the best in the world (link below) is now 40.7% efficient.

Facts About Nuclear Power: Living With The Atom (1957) $9.99 What is atomic energy? We tend to think of atomic energy as a new concept revolutionized by the destruction of the atomic bombs that were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. But atomic energy has been around since the dawn of time. This is exemplified by the sun that gives us light and warmth, which is created with atomic energy. But the notion that energy is the equivalent of mass was a radically … |
