Exponential Model Solar Energy?
So I saw this video of Ray Kurzweil: In http://www.ted.com/talks/ray_kurzweil_announces_singularity_university.html 5:38 shows a graph of photovoltaic production. The graphic shows an approximate doubling of the use of PV every two years. I thought was interesting. I'm sure cost was a factor in this behavior. What if you plot the cost of solar power per kilowatt. Perhaps the cost of energy Solar is also following some kind of exponential model, and we can see when the cost of solar power could compete with the cost of coal and forms oil / energy. Does anyone know if this has already been done? Does anyone know where can I find historical prices (such as solar energy cost / kW)? Although I was not able to find the average cost per kW of solar energy, I found a site with a lot of solar data. Look below www.swivel.com energy.
The current cost of solar panel sales of approximately U.S. $ 3 by watt.So per KW which costs $ 3,000. The investment cost is very high in terms of gain performance through the use of solar energy compared to the fuel used for electricity. Unless we found a method to reduce the production cost solar panels to one third of current costs is not an option.
