There is an enormous amount of talk (and Twitter and blogs) these days in the media and general conversation about what the future brings in terms Eco Friendly and Green Products. Â The buzzwords in the current recessionary environment are 'Green', 'sustainable', 'carbon neutral', and a series of similar words and phrases heard that and I've seen almost every day whenever you see or hear. Â With the amount of football related political with carbon credits and global warming, and incentives to reduce our collective carbon footprint, we can be sure that this issue will be forced to the forefront of thoughts for the foreseeable future.

In Ireland, for example, we change.ie, driven by a government website that encourages households and businesses to calculate and reduce their carbon footprint, and sei.ie A to another government-driven website that offers assistance, and in some cases, grant aid to help individuals and businesses be more sustainable through the use of renewable energy sources or improved insulation, etc.

One certainty in relation to all transition zone to a more sustainable and "green" methods of energy consumption, is that generally, people do not want to be on the need to increase expenditure. And here lies the crux of the matter! Â

It is my opinion that the transition to sustainable technology should be a cost neutral operation and if one has to make an investment to ease the transition, there must be a "return on investment ', where you will recover the investment cost, so that, for example, if you buy a bulb low energy light that costs 50% more than a standard incandescent one, you should be able to overcome this difference in costs over the lifetime of the light bulb through reduced electricity costs and supply to the bulb and because of the life cycle product. Â Similarly, if you invest in solar panels or wind turbines to generate some or all of its electricity needs, should be able to recover the cost of capital expenditures through savings in generating their own electricity.

In most cases this will be a number of years before the release starting a "green" product is recovered, so many will want to find the cost of goods more efficient. Â The lower-cost items can not be the most profitable, as the output of the equipment will have a significant impact on the ROI as well, so where do you go for a solution efficient and profitable, where you can get the best "life-cycle cost?

Although China is widely described as a high consumption of oil and the country eating coal, and in relation to their size is, however, is also at the forefront of the implementation of sustainable energy. In China not only establishing of wind and huge solar farms, but also in the forefront of LED lighting and micro wind turbines to individual street lights.

Thus, while China is a large user of fossil fuels, the green message is not lost on the Chinese, and are working on technology that will fuel the future. Â It seems that all roads lead to China for the products of the Greens in the near future.A
