Thinking about buying a cabin that is "out of the network." Anyone have any experience with the life of solar energy?
I'm asking specifically what kind of maintenance is the solar energy systems beyond the home network. Just be in the cabin a few days a month, most time … except during long holidays. Is it possible to maintain a total solar system boot in such situations?
Since you specifically said keeping in mind, I will assume you have already researched what size system they require as a result of the total power required, the latitude of the place in its booth, the total average hours of sunlight available through the various stations, etc. The main concern is keeping your battery status. To compensate for the overhead assume you're using a charge controller. During hot weather the batteries need more water (distilled only) in cool or cold weather. To keep rodents away, spray the cable with peppermint oil. Make sure the battery cable accessories for batteries are coated with an acid for prevention. If you really have a national total is very large. I have a system I have used for 5 years to provide my needs, except heating, hot water and cooking. To that the use of propane. I use my grill (propane) as an oven when needed (great for cooking pizza … better than a regular oven … use the warming rack above).
