Do you have a house outside the network in a cloudy weather, rain? The solar panels worth?
I've been doing lots of research on places to live when I finish school, and I really think Oregon is the perfect place for me. Me and my boyfriend wants to build a house outside the network. The thing is he says he can not live in Oregon, because it is not sunny enough, and if we rely on solar panels that do not. Is there any other solution outside the network, as well of solar panels that could be used as backup? I do not know much about wind turbines and how much they cost. Does anyone who lives in a rainy climate and overcast make much use of solar panels? Or should I go to a state that has more sunny days (I've been considering Colorado)? Comments? Thank you.
There are plenty of off-grid homes in Oregon, and many sell their power back on sunny days to balance the rest of the time. Just do a search on green homes in Oregon to find some of the projects mentioned. There are also houses the COB in Coquille that are very interesting. But today. it costs more to get these houses built outside the network to recover. Most people just started, can not afford to do so. I am looking for ways and partners have an existing house and pull it off the network – affordably. You have many ideas but little free time to play with them. Would like to share ideas.
