Any suggestions for building an eco-friendly home?
I intend to build a house (about 1400 square feet) expected it is mostly off the grid. What kind of nontoxic building materials and (or) viable forms of energy generation sources sustainable heating, cooling and lighting of a house would you recommend? I already have a cabin in the woods with kerosene lamps, a fireplace and a wood stove. Why is it 'incredible'?
I think it's incredible that you will build a green house! My main suggestion is to do your research before you start. Rather than listing off a bunch of suggestions, I think would serve you better to give a list of resources that could be used as you are researching ways to make your home green. 1. Home Dwell – the website of the magazine of the same name, which focuses heavily on the green design. http://www.dwell.com 2. HGTV – the website of Home and Garden Television.
