What is your current plan to get off the grid?
Where I live we have a lot of wind and sunlight. I will build a combination of the 2 types. It cost a bit to get into his doing, but once I will be reasonably independent and can say I'm doing everything possible to get energy pollutants.
I'll Beat GRID THE MONEY HUNGRY. Ive been building solar panels of the old cells broken down to cheaper destinations eBay buying them and they are working very well. Take a little time and imagination work, but well worth it. I have a few photos on my blog showing how I do my a flat roof on my house and am building a windmill low my own design with the power shaft through the roof into the room on the second floor that I use, for my room and power that I use for my lab. The generator is inside the house. It is a permanent magnet generator 12 volt that came out of a John Dear tractor. I was going to use a GM alternator, but they need to turn faster to produce electricity. The neighborhood thinks I'm crazy but the good professor's nothing like live free and I sure do not worry about turning off my power company power. tell the truth of his state a lot of fun to build my own system.
